Who am I?

My name is Guillaume Lafrance and I have been an associate at Accuracy since May 2012 in the Quebec office.

I started my career as an auditor in a regional accounting firm in 2008. At that time, I had a degree in accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Over the years, I got my CPA, CA title (Chartered Professional Accountant) and completed various courses in business valuation.

This wealth of knowledge and experience has allowed me to start my career as a consultant in business valuation and forensic accounting (damage quantification and litigation).

Why Accuracy?

I was approached by Accuracy during a period that I was not actively looking for a new job. Moreover, the name Accuracy was totally unknown to me at that time. Despite this, a single meeting was sufficient to seduce me.

What could be better? Performing extremely complex and diverse mandates, advising clients independently, working with a team of experienced professionals, not to mention the opportunity to exchange knowledge with professionals from all around the world.

My work

Generally, the work of a consultant is to carry out a mandate for a client in three major stages.

1-    Understand the situation.

While each assignment is unique, it is important to take the time to understand the particularities of the mandate. This will allow us to properly respond to the customer’s needs while optimising our work.

2-    Perform analyses.

This is the heart of our work. Thanks to these analyses, as complex as they may be, we can draw our conclusions and respond to the customer’s needs.

3-    Popularise.

Even the best analyses have no added value as long as they are not properly explained. Therefore it is essential in our work to have a strong ability to synthesise and to be quick at repartee.

My favourite project

I do not have a favourite mission as they are all, in their own way, as exciting as the others.

However, I have a bias towards missions where we are acting as expert in Court. Given the litigious context, we know that our report will be analysed, scrutinised, dissected and criticised by the expert from the opposing party. This particular context increases the degree of difficulty and requires us to deliver a product of high quality.

My advice to candidates

Beyond the financial, accounting and economic analyses performed, a team was formed, consulted and questioned to deliver a consolidated report that would have been totally different had it been done by a different team.

Chemistry that is created in a team is the cornerstone of our business. It is therefore essential for each team member to be comfortable to work with everyone.

Interviews are the ideal opportunities to see how everyone interacts with others. That is why it is so important for everyone to remain themselves.
